Bloggin’ for a Cause: Any Wine Pairs Well with Mud

I'm feeling quite proud of myself!

So It’s been established that I like wine. But you wanna know what else I like? Giving back. In the last three years or so, some of my dumb adolescence has worn off and I’ve realized that the world is only better when those who can, pitch in.  If hired for the MG job, I would definatlely want to make ‘giving back’ a Goode word…er…two words. And in keeping with the practice what you preach mentality, I regulary donating my time at a local comminity clinic. However, today I took things to a new level and decided to dedicate my time,  soul…and body. The Camp Pendelton Marine Mud Run (http://www.mudrun.com/)  is an annual 10K that raises money for our troops. Now, at the time I signed up ( 8 months ago) it SEEMED like a FANTASTIC idea. However, after 10 days in wine country, and an additional 5 days of, well, doing nothing, the Mud Run arrived and I was about as prepared as Jabba the Hut. I now have an greater knowledge of what the word gross means…but when you have 15 Marines yelling at you to ‘ GET DOWN AND CRAWL THROUGH THE MUD!”, you get down and crawl through the dang mud! I was FILTHY. FILTHY! I have to say though, that while excrutiating…and dirty…I would TOTALLY do it again next year! Even as I’m writing this, my whole body is throbbing, but hey, its for the troops…and a Goode cause. Hoo Ra!
